About the Formulation
This is a combination ophthalmic formulation containing Moxifloxacin 0.5% w/v and Prednisolone Acetate 1% w/v, combining antibacterial and anti-inflammatory actions. Benzalkonium Chloride Solution 0.2% w/v acts as a preservative to help maintain the sterility of the ophthalmic solution.
Indication / Uses
Indicated for the treatment of steroid-responsive ocular inflammation associated with bacterial infection or where there is a risk of bacterial infection.
Mechanism of Action (MOA)
Moxifloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacterial DNA replication and leading to bacterial cell death. Prednisolone Acetate is a corticosteroid that suppresses the production and release of inflammatory mediators, thereby reducing ocular inflammation, redness, and swelling.
