About the Formulation
Glucobrinz-T fixed-dose ophthalmic combination containing Brinzolamide 1% w/v and Timolol 0.5% w/v, formulated to reduce elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Benzalkonium Chloride Solution 0.1% w/v acts as a preservative to maintain the sterility of the ophthalmic solution.
Indication / Uses
Indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
Mechanism of Action (MOA)
Brinzolamide inhibits carbonic anhydrase II, reducing bicarbonate formation and thereby decreasing aqueous humor production. Timolol blocks β-adrenergic receptors in the ciliary body, reducing aqueous humor secretion. Together, they provide complementary action to effectively lower elevated intraocular pressure.
