About the Formulation
Highpress is an ophthalmic combination containing Tropicamide 0.8% w/v and Phenylephrine HCl 5% w/v, with Chlorbutol 0.5% w/v as a preservative. It is formulated to produce effective and rapid pupil dilation (mydriasis) for ophthalmic examination and diagnostic procedures.
Indication / Uses
Used for inducing mydriasis during fundus examination, retinal evaluation, and other diagnostic or ophthalmic procedures.
Mechanism of Action (MOA)
Tropicamide blocks muscarinic receptors in the iris sphincter muscle, causing relaxation and pupil dilation, while Phenylephrine stimulates α₁-adrenergic receptors in the iris dilator muscle, producing contraction and further mydriasis. Together, they provide enhanced pupil dilation for ophthalmic examination.
