About the Formulation
Glucosoft-T is a fixed-dose ophthalmic combination containing Brimonidine Tartrate 0.2% w/v and Timolol 0.5% w/v, formulated to reduce elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Stabilized Oxychloro Complex 0.005% w/v is included as a preservative system to help maintain the sterility of the ophthalmic solution.
Indication / Uses
Indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
Mechanism of Action (MOA)
Brimonidine stimulates α₂-adrenergic receptors, reducing aqueous humor production and enhancing uveoscleral outflow. Timolol blocks β-adrenergic receptors, primarily reducing aqueous humor production in the ciliary body. Together, their complementary mechanisms provide effective reduction and control of elevated intraocular pressure.
