About the Formulation
Gatinorm-PD is a combination ophthalmic formulation containing Gatifloxacin 0.3% w/v and Prednisolone Acetate 1.0% w/v, providing antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity. Benzalkonium Chloride Solution 0.1% w/v acts as a preservative to maintain the sterility of the ophthalmic solution.
Indication / Uses
Indicated for the treatment of bacterial eye infections associated with steroid-responsive ocular inflammation or when there is a risk of bacterial infection.
Mechanism of Action (MOA)
Gatifloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, disrupting bacterial DNA replication and causing bacterial cell death. Prednisolone Acetate is a corticosteroid that suppresses inflammatory mediators, thereby reducing ocular inflammation, redness, swelling, and discomfort.
